Daylight Savings Time | Extra Light for Viewing Ulster County Real Estate!
Early Sunday morning or late Saturday night (whichever you prefer) daylight savings occurs and all clocks are moved ahead one hour. As a friendly reminder, Taft Street Realty suggests resetting your clocks before bed time this Saturday, March 9th. Within these technologically advanced times many clocks, like the ones in our cell phones or computers, will reset themselves. But if you rely on that an old fashioned alarm clock to wake you up in the morning, turn it ahead one hour before bed this Saturday night!
Why do we even sacrifice this precious hour of sleep? The biggest benefit is obvious: getting an extra hour of daylight to enjoy the outdoors. Many folks view Daylight Savings time as the unofficial kick-off to the Spring & Summer seasons. That extra hour of daylight seems to beckon for barbecues & gardening! But it was originally designed to conserve energy; the idea being that an extra hour of light allows us to save on power for lights and such. It takes place in the middle of the night so as not to be too disruptive to our daily lives. DST has changed periodically throughout history, such as being extended during an energy crisis in the 1970's. These days, it takes place on the second Sunday of March (this Sunday, March 10th) at 2am.
Here at Taft Street we like to think of it as an extra hour to view Ulster County real estate for sale! As we stated before it also kicks off the spring, which is the beginning of the busy season in Hudson Valley real estate. So call your agent and schedule a Sunday evening showing in preparation for Daylight Savings Time, and stay tuned in to Taft Street for the best real estate blog in Ulster County NY!
