Great Country Farms Marshmallow Festival
What is Great Country Farms?
On the base of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in a quaint town of Bluemont sits Great Country Farms. The 200 acre working farm produces a wide variety of fruits and vegetables throughout all seasons. Owners of the farm, the Zurschmeide family, have been farming in Loudoun County for over 35 years. The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce in 1996 and 2007 voted Great Country Farms "Agribusiness of the Year"for the farms innovative farming techniques that help grow produce in our changing climate. The farm also has lots of actives for families and children to participate in all year.
What is the Marshmallow Harvest?
On March 23rd and 24th from 10am to 5pm, Great Country Farms is hosting their annual Marshmallow Harvest. 
This is a fun and exciting event in Bluemont for families and children. At this harvest marshmallows“grow” on trees. You can pick a baggy of marshmallows and roast them over a bonfire. There is also an abundance of smore kits for sale so you can make your marshmallows into a tasty, classic treat. Along with the marshmallow fun, there will be a huge Easter egg hunt across the farm, with over 7,000 eggs that need to be found. If you explore the farm thoroughly you might even be able to find the Easter bunny and have your picture taken with him. Overall this festival will leave a ‘spring’ in your step and a smile on your face.

There is always an abundance of things to do at Great Country Farms. Every day there is live music playing and delicious food at the farms Roosteraunt. They serve kettle corn, fresh baked goods, hotdogs, and hamburgers, fresh from the farm. There is also a 5 acre play area that includes giant slides and a large pumpkin jumping pillow. For even more fun, you can visit the farms petting zoo and look at the new blossoming spring plants. Every family in Loudoun County should make a visit to this fun farm location.
