Celebrate Father's Day 2013 at the Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival

Ever feel like Mother's Day gets all the glory?  Well, maybe you haven't attended the Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival, held on Father's Day before.  The 2013 Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival will be held on June 16th...for those that have no idea when Father's Day falls on the calendar.  It will be held on the lawn of the Manassas Museum, located at 9101 Prince William Street in Old Town Manassas.

Enjoy a mellow and slow paced afternoon as you taste wines from Virginia wineries and enjoy music from jazz artists Marcus Johnson, Kitty and the Fat Cats and Barbar Martin.  The wine tasting kicks off at 11am, but live music doesn't start until 12pm.

Of course, if you want to make an entire weekend of it, don't miss the Battle of the Artists.  That happens the evenings of June 15th and June 16th on Battle Street.  Art supplies are provided, there are no entry fees and the People's Favorite wins $200.  There will also be an opportunity for participating Battle Artists to exhibit and sell their artwoork at the festival on June 16th.

Honestly, between the street artists, local wine and jazz music, what more you could ask for?

You can purchase tickets in advance for the 9th Annual Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival at the Manassas Train Depot, located at 9431 West Street in Old Town Manassas.  Tickets for those wishing to partake of the wine tasting portion of the event will be $22, which includes a $2 convenience fee.  Tickets for those that wish to skip the wine tasting and enjoy the music are $12, again with the $2 convenience fee.  If you prefer to buy your tickets online, click this link for the event.   Tickets at the gate for those wanting to taste the wines will be $25, so purchasing the tickets in advance would save you a few bucks.

Connie:  Me too. Trying to talk my husband into participating.  He's definitely got the talent in our family.

What else could I ask for? How about a cot or maybe a hammock tied between two trees, so a person has a place to take a nap after tasting all of that wine.

Donna:  I may just go down and check the whole thing out.

Elizabeth:  If I go, I'll take a collapse lawn chair.

Aren't you the early bird although if you want to make it special like the Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival you do need to plan ahead.

Chris Ann, this sounds like an absolutely lovely event! Hard to beat jazz and wine! :) I also love that artists can participate in the battle without entry fees. Sometimes I feel entry fees are what keeps some very talented people from entering!

Chris Ann, this is a great way to spend Father's Day!  What could be better than a jazz and wine festival?

Teral:  Father's Day will be here before you know it.

Marney:  I bet the street is going to look amazing when the artists are done.

Barbara:  My thoughts exactly.  Though when my Dad was alive, he would've loved a beer and Johnny Cash festival.

Wine and jazz in an historic town - what could be better?!  I would love to visit the area because of its civil war history.  I have been to Richmond and Williamsburg, but haven't made it to Manassas yet.

Lisa:  Virginia has a lot to offer in terms of tourism and history.  The great thing about Manassas is there are also plenty of good restaurants downtown.
