Not too infrequently, I will be at my desk when I get a call from someone who wants more information about a property in Laurel.  Well I am the guy to call about Laurel real estate.  I live in Laurel Md and I do business here.

So I ask the caller how I can help them.   They indicate to me they are interested in a condo in the Laurel Lakes subdivision.

They give me the address, I look up the property and I am not too happy with what I find.

The condo is a foreclosure for $50,000 or less. 

The buyer is usually excited because the property is still available.  The buyer then explains that for that low price his mortgage payments will be real low.

I know this drill real well.  I begin to ask the buyer questions, have you ever bought a foreclosure property before?  Do you intend to live in the property?   Are you aware that most banks will not give you a mortgage at that low of an amount?  Do you know at this price you will be competing with investors who have the cash?

I hear the enthusiasm drop in the caller's voice.  He thanks me for the information and then hangs up.

I don't ever want to discourage anyone from buying a home.  In fact, I want to encourage everyone to buy Laurel Md. real estate.
