Seal those holes: Portland, Oregon Real Estate Tips, Keith Berne, Realtor

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Equity Group, Inc.

Summer is only one season away and many of you may be thinking of installing air conditioning systems. Well if you do, be sure that the installer properly seals all entry points into the house for the system, whether in the roof, walls or crawlspace. As a Realtor I've seen many cases where a small entry point allows rodents, animals or birds to enter attics and crawlspaces where they can do a lot of damage. Last year a panicked homeowner called me to tell me an "animal" was trapped in her built-in microwave. It turned out a bird had gotten into the attic and flown down the exhaust tube. It wasn't actually in the microwave, but it sure sounded like it! There it flapped until gently directed out of the attic... but it was scary for the bird and the homeowner! So remind your contractors to seal those holes! Happy Homeowning. Keith Berne, Broker, Realtor, GRI, Re/Max Equity Group, 503-734-6646
