street sign What's in a Name?
I sure wouldn't want the job of sitting around a table and choosing the Names to call the streets in a development!  It was stressful enough coming up with the names of my three children!

A home on Mount Misery, my favorite, unusual street was recently sold in my office. When I saw the name, I said to the listing agent, "Oh boy. You might have that one a while"

Do people pay attention when looking at homes what the name of the street is?  I know I had a client that was very particular about the house number - each digit had to add up to be an odd number, or she wouldn't even look at it!

Here are some of the street names in my area that I've found to be very unusual.

Hi Kim,

Funny stuff. Zig zag would be appropriate for Lombard St. in S.F.!

Those are some crazy names indeed!  One of my favorites here in the Austin area is near Lake Travis - it's called Nameless Road.

Kim, my favorite of those is Helluva Hill.  We used to live on a street called Eliot Hill Rd and my father's name is Elliott -- when he told people the his name and the street name, some people thought he owned the whole street!

I grew up in Kentucky, we had small towns near us with Monkey's Eyebrow, and Possum Trot. Oh my, it was a joke then and it is now too, but those are real towns. We have a town in Michigan called Hell, MI. Ok so they promote it big, "I've gone to hell and back". there is a gift shop there with all kinds of gadgets on it.

Why not?

There was a small fishing town down south that had Dead Fish Lane and Cutbait Drive.  I almost fell over the first time I saw those.
