October is harvest time in Florida for the Dragon Fruit and the local Dragon Fruit plants are all heavy with fruit.
Today we were at the Wagon Wheel flea market in Pinellas Park and Dragon Fruit plants were for sale, as well as the colorful fruit itself.
The name of the fruit varies from the area you are in. In China it is the Fire Dragon Fruit, in Vietnamese it is the Green Dragon, in Khmer it is Dragon Scale, in Malay it is Dragon Fruit and in Thai it is Dragon Crystal. No matter what you call this colorful fruit, it is easy to grow if you have a warm humid climate such as the southern half of Florida. By the way, if your local market doesn't sell the plant, Amazon.com does!
