Oh Baby, It's Cold Outside!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Grants Pass, OR 199909023

Oh Baby, It's Cold Outside!   I woke up this morning to a bright light of snow beaming through my window.  I caught Old Man Winter sneaking around in the middle of the night, and boy did he have a little surprise in store for me.

My pipes are frozen and I have no water.  Silly me, I should've known that would happen.  Southern Oregon  got it's first blanket of snow this year on Friday, and the frost bug bit hard at 8 degrees last night.

Fortunately, I left my faucet dripping  at the office, so no worries there.  But, for some reason, I didn't think to do the same at home.  A big oops!

Luckily, I had some water in my tea kettle  to wash my hands and make a cup of coffee.  The weather outside is frightful, but a warm cup of joe is so delightful on a chilly morning

Jack Frost might be nipping at my toes  (& pipes), but he won't get the best of me.  I'm saving myself for Joe!  Oh baby, it's cold outside!

:) Mel, not a fan of frozen pipes and it's happened to me before too. Sorry sweetie. However, your bright and sunny attitude will thaw things out soon. Stay cozy...

Also very cold in Dallas.  We have been shut in for three days with temps below freezing.  Snow and icy roads, but today it is sunny and will get up to 38.

Mel,  I feel your cold.  We didnt have enough snow on the ground from earlier this week and Old Man Winter decided to leave a little more for us.  I woke to another inch or two on the ground this morning.  Oh and the temperature this morning...... 2 degrees.  Argh!  Luckily it is Sunday and time to warm (chill) and watch the Broncos.

Lucky you... Marco!

Cozy indeed... Debb!  My fireplace is ablazin'

Same here... Richard!  We're up to 15 degrees right now.  I think we have a ways to go before my pipes thaw :(

Now that's cold... Belinda!  I was chatting with my BFF (who lives in Castle Rock) and she's out shopping in those temps... such a brave soul.  The quest for shoes does it everytime!  Enjoy your day GF!

Mel,

We are cold too, no frozen pipes.  Our vet was telling us that the water for his cows was frozen (in Santa Ynez), and he had to break the ice!  A

5 here this morning...no frozen pipes though. I made sure all the vents were closed last week before the really cold weather. However we are a big ag area mostly apples. There is barely a 1/4 inch of snow on the ground. With no snow temps approaching zero can be very hard on the trees...

Mel-I have experienced that before and not only frozen but bursted as well. Sounds cozy though with your roaring fire. Been freezing rain here all day.

I heard Cali was getting our cold spell.  Glad you didn't have any frozen pipes Alexandra!

Good for you Perrin!  I should've prepared a little better... just wasn't thinking!

Joe can be good company in times like these... Wanda ;-)

Lol... Brian!  Normally I would, but 'Normal' was hijacked by Jack Frost 48 hours ago... it's a chilly mystery ;-)  Thank goodness for Joe!

I feel pretty lucky nothing burst Sharon.  It's 4:30pm and I just got water... thanks to a Plumber client of mine who made a house call on a Sunday (says he's paying it forward).  Bless him!

Mel- Come down to Florida!!!  We have tons of water (and it's warm!)  When we lived in Houston, and had hard freezes, we'd have to wrap the pipes.  I hope you get water soon.

Mel,

I must reiterate what Kathy is saying... I finished putting up most of my Christmas lights tonight and was sweating like a pig as it was over 80.  Not rubbing it in but just saying, we have a warm place for you down here.

Hi Melinda!

Hopefully by now you got those pipes fixed with running water. Isn't it amazing how resourceful we get when we have to? That was smart thinking on your point to check the tea pot! You reminded me of my wintery days in Chicago. Whenever there was a cold spell looming, my dad made us fill up pots of water the night before. When we asked him how many pots did we have to fill? His answer was, as many pots of water you think you'll need tomorrow or several when you need to wash up, eat and brush your teeth!

Florida is sounding lovely right about now... Kathy!

Ok, between you and Kathy, I think I need a Florida vacation... Kevin!

That's awfully sweet Jane!  When life gives you frozen pipes... you borrow water from your neighbors!

Everything is swell today... Patricia!  My plumber torched a regulator and water started flowing ;-)  Yay... no burst pipes!

That would be me... Paul.  Silly me!
