Branford offers and abundance of food. For specialties you can try Kampai Japanese Restaurant or if you are thinking south of the border try Su Casa's Mexican Restaurant.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself thinking of dinner delights.

For starters in downtown Branford near the bottom of the hill at the intersection of Main & Ivy Street you will find Scotty's Breakfast Connections. The Omelette King serves meals daily from 6 am until noon.

Traveling south on 146 is Lenny's at Indian Neck. Bring some cash because credit cards are not accepted and if you like to eat you may splurge on a $50 lobster treat.

The Chowder Pot is another seafood spot on Route 1 near exit 56. You can enjoy lunch, dinner or a night in the lounge.

Jalapeno Heaven is a great authentic Mexican restaurant. Everyone I have ever told to try that restaurant have thanked me emphatically.

There's also Lakeview Tavern. Nice place to get a nice meal, or to just meet friends for a drink and a round or two of pool.

Branford Cue and Brew is a great place to get together with friends, shoot some pool, play some darts, eat great food. The only downside is that they allow smoking there, so I rarely go there myself.

Thank you for your comments and I agree all are great restaurants, with so many to choose from in Branford, I just named a couple. But I appreciate you adding to the list, I love Jalapeno Heaven, but can due without the smoke at the Branford Cue and Brew.

How is it that the Cue and Brew allows smoking? Isn't that illegal in CT?!

It was my understanding that it's illegal, but I also understand there are some loopholes that places get around it, like private clubs etc. I don't know if the laws have gotten any more strict, but by the same token, I haven't been in the Cue and Brew in a few years due to the smoke, so I don't know if they or the local authorities have done anything about it.

Oh, and another GREAT restaurant that I have had the opportunity of trying in Branford is Mangos. Someone had given me a gift certificate to go there, and the food was GREAT!!! Quality, taste, portions and even PRICE! Very reasonable especially considering the type of food and the area. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone I talk to.

Elizabeth - If you like Mango's, make sure you go try "The Blue Cottage". It is just opening up and it is run by the same owners as Mango's.
