APTOS, CA is a community to the east of Santa Cruz. It is pronounced "app-toss" not "app-tose" (a sure way to tell a local from a tourist).
FUN FACTS: Aptos is Ohlone, meaning "the people". Aptos is home to the epicenter of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake (magnitude 6.9). Aptos is also known for the "World's Shortest Parade" that is celebrated on July 4th, because the parade route is about .6 miles long.
