A Relationship Worth Building

Do you only look to a Realtor when it's time to buy or sell a home?  I know that's the case with most people.  In fact a good many may not even remember the name of the Realtor that helped them with their last transaction.  And while helping you find or sell a home may be the primary functions of a Realtor, I would submit that there are many other valuable services you can tap your Realtor for.

Thinking about re-financing to add on or remodel?  Who better than a Realtor to tell you not only the current market value of your home, but to tell you what changes may yield the most return.  Through their knowledge of the housing market in your area, they should be able to tell you if you're spending more on upgrades than the market is likely to return.  They can also tell you if the upgrades are consistent with other homes in the area.  So before you poor money into your house, tap your Realtor for knowledge of current trends.  You'll be glad you did.

Don't know who to call for local services?  You're Realtor will often be able to aid you in finding the right person for the job.  Whether it's a trade such as plumbing or heating, or just a handyman to fix a leaky sink.  They will often know someone right in your area with that can help.

Of course there are the usual services you should expect, such as up to date information on local housing supply and other current market information.  But that's a given.

So get to know a local Realtor.  I think you'll find that they can offer assistance with more than just buying and selling homes.  It really is a relationship worth building!
