You may recognize the photo to the right as the same photo in my signature below.  I get a lot of nice compliments on what a nice Kitchen this is.  The secret to the Kitchen cabinets is that they are PAINTED!

The vast majority of homes built in this area were constructed during the ALL WHITE kitchen and bathroom cabinets stage.  Yes, new cabinets for this Kitchen would have been about $25,000 compared to about $120 in painting materials.

The other secret to this beautiful kitchen is that there was additional wood moldings added to the top and bottom of the kitchen cabinets instead of the normal builders grade moldings that you see in most of the homes in this price point.  You can also see in the bottom left side of the photo that molding details were added as well.  I added similiar moldings to the bottom of my kitchen cabinets and it was an easy, DIY project that cost me $36 for all the cabinets.

Nice job -- what kind of paint was used?  I tried painting some non-kitchen cabinets and I wasn't happy with the way it turned out.

Nice looking kitchen but my experience has been rather poor with painted cabinets. I believe if they aren't professionally painted brush of roller marks are evident. Good luc

The finished product is beautiful!  The addition of the trim pieces and molding are fantastic.  Great work, but not sure I would get such professional results!

It's definitely a nice picture. White is coming back, you know, but not the formica of the '80's - just wood.

Those are the best painted cabinets I have ever seen.  Great job.  Love that you added the molding at the top.  That is what puts it over the edge.  :)

If you have someone who can do that for $120 please send them to Oklahoma City, they would never be unemployed.

Wow!  Impressive. I would never have guessed those were painted cabinets. I often wish I had the patience (& of course talent) to do that sort of thing.
Thanks for sharing!

I've had over 300 views on this post!  Please note that the $120 is for the painting materials only!  It does not include any labor or the cost of the additional moldings to the cabinets.

I had to BEG one of my sellers to paint his kitchen cabinets after negative feedback on the kitchen cabinets.  He was looking at replacing the cabinets at $25,000, but he finally agreed to try painting them instead.  I held my breath since I thought he would be hiring a professional to do the painting, but he did it himself.  The results were outstanding and professional looking.  He proudly informed his neighbors that he finally listened to his real estate agent on the painting instead of replacing the cabinets!

The house we bought was a short sale, and had far too many necessary projects and repairs to justify a new kitchen on top of that. I had those light maple cabinets, and built ins in the open family room. The painter we were using for the rest of the house was able to spray the built-ins (white) and the kitchen cabinets a blue-green martha stewart-ish color. They came out really nice -- much better than painting with a brush or roller. Think the total add on was around 3k, which buys me a few years before I consider a whole kitchen re-do!
