TAG! Find Your ActiveRain Blog Posts in Seconds, by Searching the TAGS
Ever find yourself in a position that you need to find a past blog by the tag? Well, Fred has written a quality post on how to find your tags now that they have disappeared from the right sidebar. Be sure to bookmark for later reference.
Have you ever gone looking for an ActiveRain Blog that you wrote a year or two ago? Have you searched for it until you are dizzy?
You've done Google and Bing searches for your Blog. You've gone through your Archives. You have scrolled and clicked on links. Finally, after 20 or 30 frustrating minutes, you find your Blog.
There is a much easier way to search your Blogs; it only takes seconds! Search using the "Tags" that you added when you posted the Original Blog.
How do you search using Tags?
Just append the word "Tags" in the address bar!
Use the following URL, with your User Name, and the word "tags" appended after the final slash.
activerain.com / blogs / ActiveRain user name / tags
Look what appears! This is the Tag Cloud. In this example, it shows all of my Tags.
The SIZE of the word indicates the number of Blogs that Tag was used for. The bigger the letters, the more Blogs will appear when you click on that Tag Link.
Go ahead, try it! Search your own Tag Cloud right now.
Important Tip about Tags:
Try not to make your Tags too general. Tags like "Real Estate" are far too broad. If you gel the tag down to something like "Windy Pines Subdivision", the Tag becomes more meaningful.
You may want to add a year or date to the Tag. I have been Blogging about the Florida State University Seminoles being National Football Champions. If I tag the Blog, "FSU" or "Football", it is overly broad. But if I tag it "BCS 2014" or "Florida State 2014", I can more quickly locate that Blog when I do a search.
Take a look at your Tag Cloud right now. Are you using the same Tag too many times? Make your Tags more specific so that your future Tag searches will be easy!
