Prophecy written in 1920 has Been Fulfilled!

As our government becomes more and more inept, we seek to understand how things could get this bad. Here is one explanation that seems to apply.

 

H.L. Mencken (born 1880 - died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic and registered Democrat.

 

Mencken wrote the editorial below while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26,1920 edition.
 
"As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron."

I have a political painting that quotes the same thing around WW2. The funny thing is what was said then is the same thing that is said today. What gogernment is not corrupt with its own power.

The prophecy relates to a problem with the election process, Troy Erickson, so I believe you are right.

I can't see how the process can be improved as long as the "takers," the gullible and the uninformed have their votes counted as much as those of us who search for the facts and understand how economics work. Voter fraud is also a major factor in pushing the most incompetent people to the top.

The Peter Principle is also a factor.

Government has quit governing and is busy micro-managing. Trying to make everyone EQUAL.

We are not all equal. We do not all deserve equal pay JUST BECAUSE!

How many of us deal with other agents and think "Oh my gosh, they are going to get as much as me and I am doing their work!"?

Mike Frazier - Unfortunately, Mike, we the INFORMED voters get only one vote each. The "takers," the gullible, the mis-informed, and the uninformed get to vote too. Add to that the special interest voters and the special interest $$$ and the power that brings. I do not hold a lot of hope that we can ever get our voices heard in Washington.

Those in power have learned how to manipulate our election system.
