While watching my Wisconsin Badgers run wild on Saturday and my Packers nearly giving me a heart attack on Sunday, I was told to believe that Southwest Airlines has a "heart" and is the leader in low fares.
Now understand please that I have never flown Southwest Airlines, and in reality probably never will and here is why.
I got an email from Orbitz touting a super low fare from Ft. Myers, Florida to Newark, New Jersey. Going to New York for a long weekend is something my wife have been kicking around. So I checked out the "deal".
Orbitz was advertising a $199 round price for a trip from November 18 to the 24th. Of course I couldn't find that flight anywhere on the site.
So I went to United and plugged in the same cities and same dates and found a round trip, non-stop taking 2 hours and 49 minutes for $231.
Next I went to Southwest, used the same information and chose the cheapest flights. An 8 hour flight with one stop came to $482!
How can they advertise being the leader in low fares?
The reality is, stay here in Southwest Florida where we actually have a heart and great weather!
