 Giving Thanks

We’re approaching the end of 2014—and here in Maryland, the seasons are marked by chilly days and the beauty of nature in all its fall glory. Despite the chill, there’s so much warmth among us. For me in particular, it radiates from my reflection of the past year, my excitement of what’s ahead, and my appreciation for the present. Although I give thanks for what I have each and every day, this is the time of year during which thankfulness is a foremost theme.

As a realtor, I’ve immersed myself in an environment that houses—and, in fact, has its very roots in—gratitude and generosity. The home (and we all define that differently) is traditionally among the first to be named as a blessing, a privilege, and the foundation for life pursuits and contributions. I feel incredibly fortunate to support people’s dreams of owning a home, which has also connected me with wonderful people. Throughout this season of giving, therefore, I’d like to acknowledge things for which I am most thankful.

Today I am grateful to assist a young couple—first-time homebuyers—in their search for a small starter home. I also have the pleasure of working with a senior couple who wishes to downsize from the home in which they raised their family. Once we locate the new home of their choice, I’ll list their current home for sale. It is so rewarding to help both first-time buyers and long-term homeowners with all aspects and phases of the home buying and selling process. To offer comfort and assurance to my clients during what could be a stressful experience, to help them carry out their visions and impact their futures…these are just a few aspects that make me thankful to be a realtor.

In my experience as a Maryland real estate professional, I've found that providing the very best service is about putting my clients first. This means staying accessible, being a good listener as well as a good communicator, and responding quickly to clients’ needs.

 

This "client first" philosophy has always been my approach. It requires me to continually improve my skills and ways of conducting business.
