It’s that time of year for craft sales & oh boy there are a few going on this weekend. We also have a Chocolate Fest and things to get you ready for winter.

Get Outside this Winter

Snowshoeing has gained popularity over the last five years. It’s a great workout and a wonderful way to spend time in nature during winter. Rei is hosting Snowshoeing Basics this Friday November 7th at 10:15 at their West side location. An experienced REI staff member will show you the basics knowledge & techniques you will need to get started. They will also help you pick out the appropriate gear you will need.

Learn How Your Great Grandparents Cooked

Schumacher Farm Park is hosting a hands-on Woodstove Cooking  workshop this Saturday November 8th from 10 to 3. Using simple ingredients from the pantry, freezer & cellar, &  just the heat from a wood cook stove, participants will make & enjoy a hearty fall lunch of pork and root vegetable stew, chicken patties and gravy, onion pie, braised kale, farmhouse sourdough bread &  pineapple upside down cake. You will build a hardy appetite because participants will do all the chopping, cooking and cleaning up under the guidance of Instructor Steve Keip.

Curling and Chocolate: The Perfect Combination

It’s time for the Madison Curling clubs Chocolate Festival this Saturday November 8th.  Just $15 a ticket, guests can feast upon an assortment of mouthwatering chocolate delicacies crafted by Featured Baker Chris Olson or delight in an assortment of chocolate cakes, dreamy chocolate pies, luscious truffles, scrumptious cheesecakes and tasty tortes created by a host of McFarland contributors, all the while sipping on a glass of chilled champagne in the ambience of soft music and warm candlelight. This event is to benefit the ongoing maintenance and restoration of the historic Larson House in downtown McFarland.

Fantasy tabletop gaming is everybody’s dream date. Gamehole Con is the time all lovers of tabletop gaming to mingle and be part of the community. Over 400 different tabletop gaming events are planned for this 3 day event. The Con features special events, celebrity appearances, seminars with gaming industry leaders such as Ed Greenwood and Chris Perkins, a huge exhibitors’ hall, and always popular new game play testing.

Honor Those Who Serve

Help raise money for the Navy League youth programs. Uniformed Service Run/Walk this Saturday November 8th  is to support ongoing youth programs and honors the men and women of all the uniformed services; Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Police, and Fire services and their families. There will be an honor ceremony held at 9:45am & the race will start at 10:00am. The run/walk will take place at Christy’s Landing on Lake Waubesa. $40 registration fee. Help support our troops and give back to their families.
