Flower Girl

By
Real Estate Agent with United Real Estate Dallas TREC# 0544069

Last weekend, my daughter and I created the flower arrangements and bouquets for a friend's wedding.  Friday morning 100 dozen flowers were delivered to my house.  We worked through the night to complete our gift to the bride and groom.  The fruits of our labor were delivered to the church and  reception on Saturday.

When we returned home late Saturday night we discovered our Collie, Lucia, nestled between the buckets of unused flowers and an antique armoire in the laundry room.

We rescued this sweet dog last June. Our vet believes she lived much of her life on the streets.  She still prefers to sleep hidden between pieces of furniture, behind a door, or outside, with her head tucked behind a flower pot.  It's hard to believe that someone left this gentle soul alone on the streets of Dallas.  Her legs had been broken, she had cuts on her body, and someone had shaved a haphazard design in her beautiful coat.  She is now in her "Forever Home "  living like a princess.  On Saturday, she became a Flower Girl!

Good morning Sharon.  I do not understand why people will abuse animals. They are so sick.

Sharon, that was a very sweet gesture doing the flowers for the wedding.  It is so hard to hear how some treat their animals, and should be shot!

Oh, Sharon...I just want to cry. I didn't know Lucia's story. The poor baby. I'm so grateful to you for taking her in. You are a very special person.

Inna, I am hoping my daughter took photos.  We worked up to the moment of delivery and I never thought about photos.  We had 8 bouquets, including the bride's bouquet; 30 corsages; and about 65 arrangements.  Our brains were in overload! We set up at the reception venue also.

Barbara, this is one of the sweetest dogs, I've had in my life.

Roger, she definitely found the right home!

Michael, it is beyond me as well.  I wish we knew her story.

Lise, as I mentioned to Inna, I hope my daughter took photos at the reception venue.  We will have photos of the bride and bridesmaid bouquets for sure.

Sheila, thank you! you are so kind.

Joan, I think Lucia escaped from someone really horrible.  My daughter saw her lying down by garbage behind a building.  One the second day, when she returned for a meeting,  Lucia was in the same spot on the ground.  My daughter and her business partner scooped up Lucia and took her to a nearby vet. She was a very sick dog, with no chip, no tattoo and no collar. We contacted Collie rescues around the country and all local rescues. No one came forward and the vet felt the dog had been on the streets for months or years.  We think she is over 10 years old.

Debbie, I get tearful recanting her story.  Lucia deserves every day of love, happiness, food, and shelter that we can give her.  You are indeed a special lady yourself.  Lucky is truly, lucky! I live by the motto that we are all here to help others get through life.  That means two legged and four legged "others!"

Hi Sharon Parisi ,  What a beautiful collie.  I can imagine the people that mistreat such beautiful animals.

Myrl, the habits of animals are fascinating.

Larry, I wonder what those people were thinking.

Joyce, I think she knows she hit the jackpot!

Oh my... what a heart-wrenching story and what a lovely Collie.  I'm so glad you took her in and are giving her all the love she deserves.  I just can't believe anyone could've been so cruel as to leave her to her own defenses... hurt and on the street when there are so many options available.
