Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day. Originally known as "Decoration Day", this is the one day a year that is officially set aside to remember those brave men and women who gave their lives to protect our freedom. The Westfield community plans on honoring those we have lost in past battles at the 2015 Westfield Memorial Day Parade.

Opening ceremonies for the 2015 Westfield Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9am at the World War I Veterans Monument at North Ave and E Broad St in Westfield. After the opening ceremonies, the parade will start out on E Broad St and head up to Fairview Cemetery. The VFW will then finish the parade with a special closing ceremony at the cemetery.
Any Westfield organization, business or individual that wishes to participate in the 2015 Westfield Memorial Day Parade is welcome. Just contact Stan Cuba with the Westfield Memorial Day Parade Committee at the number listed above. The committee also wants to memorialize all veterans who have passed away since last Memorial Day. If you know of someone that you would like to add to the list of names to be read at the ceremony, please call Stan. He will need the individual's name, branch of service and which conflict(s) they served in.
The Grand Marshal for the 2015 Westfield Memorial Day Parade is Mr. Ralph Douglas. Mr. Douglas served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946, with a Naval Reserves commission that followed in 1951. Mr. Douglas is proud to be a life member of the VFW and continues to be active with the local Elks, Masons and Shriners organizations.
Honor our fallen heroes. Take the time to watch the 2015 Westfield Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25th. Hold your head up high and wave your flag even higher. God bless our troops!
