Encouraged by Mirela's success in finding a German buyer lead using RealBird and its built-in automatic translation feature, I thought it made only sense to add the Google translation service to ActiveRain as well and provide international visitors an option to translate articles.
See the translation drop down on the right side bar above our ActiveRain Associates Widget >>>
Please note, that this is an automatic translation service and quality of the translation differs from languages to languages. Nevertheless, it provides one more option to engage a specific segment of your visitors.
Google seems to be serious about this service. They provide now two functionalities which implies to me that they have serious plans with it: They recently introduced a way for people who speak the particular foreign language to send corrections to Google by editing the translation inline. While these corrections do not appear automatically, I assume, once they collect enough similar corrections on the same translated term from distinct users they eventually correct their automatic translation. Google also released an API for this service. Usually that means, they are getting confident with the quality and want to developer community to lead the way of creating useful end-user application.
Below are the simple steps to follow to enable the Google's translation services on your own ActiveRain blog:
- Grab the code at Google
- Go to "My Settings" on your ActiveRain profile page
- In the Blog Description field, copy and paste the Google code. Make sure you click "Update" to save the changes.
Here is the screenshot which may help in setting this up:
That's it. Simple enough.
Your ActiveRain blog just went global.
