The Power of a Personal Note

This is taken from the original post by Brian Buffini who states "Nothing in my career took less time, cost less money, and produced bigger results that notes."

This is a very powerful statement considering Real Estate Agents currently spend hundreds of dollars each month on lead generation, data base management, blogs, advertising, and other forms of personal marketing, and here is a well respected Real Estate professional who says that in the end, the most important thing that you can do in Real Estate, is to write a personal note!

My personal philosophy also has always been to connect on a more personal level.  My communication style is to try to talk more directly with my clients, and provide that personal touch as well as first class service...

Brian Buffini recommends writing 50 notes per month.  Your hand-written notes will give you the opportunity to connect with the people that you encounter each month and have had an impact on your life.  This gives you a chance to stand out amongst the competition and make a "deposit into their emotional account."

This is really good advice for new Real Estate Agents as well as seasoned professionals who have been in the business for a long time.  We are never too old to learn, or to revisit what really matters and what really works.  In the end it appears that it's all about That Personal Touch...

“Nothing in my career took less time, cost less money, and produced bigger results than notes.”  Brian Buffini

For those of you who are familiar with Buffini & Company, Brian’s passion for hand-written personal notes will come as no surprise.  It was a fundamental part of Brian’s real estate business, it’s a fundamental part of the system we teach our clients today, and it will continue to be fundamental to the success of anyone following a relational business model.

As you saw in the video, we ask our clients to write 50 notes per month which might seem like a lot, but think about how many people you encounter in a month that have an impact on your life.  A hand-written note will give you the opportunity to connect with those people and make a deposit in their emotional account and it will help you stand out amongst the competition.  It’s a little something extra that can make a huge impact.

Joyce, I love this and watched the little video not once but twice. I've been writing a lot more notes this year although I'm not getting close to 50 per month.

I'm going to try to write more myself. Brian's video inspired me to be more diligent.

A physical hand written card in the mail can do amazing things for business. While many printed pieces may get thrown out without a second look, you know something hand written will get opened, we don't get many cards in the mail anymore.

Good point, I agree people are less likely to throw out a hand written note. Have a  great weekend

This is a very good idea.  I just ordered some combo Christmas card/calendars (5 x 7) to send out to my top 100 with a handwritten note.  Hopefully the calendar feature gives them some shelf life.

I love receiving personal notes so I know they are important to send out as well. There are so many people who have been so amazing to me personally and professionally and personal note is a great way to recognize their actions.

I need to get better at this. I used to be good, but technology has become a crutch.

This is a good reminder to maintain a supply of note cards and to frequently use them.

They have certainly been a great source of referrals for me. It says to the receiver that we didn't send something to our database, we sent it to them.
