It's either an egret or a Heron, Bob. It looks very similar to our Great Blue Herons, but having relatives that I've visited not so far away from you, in FLA, they have both. 

This is a heron that I shot many years ago while visiting my mom in Homosassa Springs, FL about 70 miles from Tampa.

I,really like to pictures you post of your neighborhood.  The bird is probably pretty used to humans and our noises to be bothered.

Egrets are such majestic looking birds.  At our local park, we have a Blue Egret that comes to visit from time to time!

Hi Bob.  Always wonderful to get out and see nature and how the birds and animals interact.

Bob you paint a beautiful picture of Grand Lakes and being a pet friendly neighborhood is appealing to buyers.

Bob, would be sweet to live near a lake to walk your pup!   Looks like the weather was pretty nice too.

I saw a bird that looked just like that a few days ago on the side of a canal as I drove by. It was a big one!

Bob, does your dog get in the lake...if Zeke was nearby he would run for the lake and take a swim :) Thanks for sharing your photo.

Hi Bob - I think it is a heron, we have those here too. And my dogs also bark at them. They are so interesting to watch catch fish!

It's been a long time since I've caught one of your posts.  I seem to be an early bird and you are not showing up on my scroll.  

I'm afraid since a darn Heron sat and ate all but 7 of our large backyard pond fish I'm not a fan.  He wasn't afraid of us as we tried to run him off so we ended up putting a large screen over the pond to protect our very old fish from being his next meal.
