Buying A Home in An Adult Community in Arizona
With the snow flying in many parts of the country, those of us in Arizona are enjoying warmer temperatures and lots of sun. This great weather is why we have so many people coming to Arizona for a few weeks or months to enjoy the great weather and outdoor activities.
When buyers come to the Phoenix area and are looking at homes in our Active Adult communities, they are often looking at the amenities provided within those communities. We often see Multi-million dollar Recreation centers that provide indoor and outdoor (heated) swimming, hot tubs, work out facilities, and many opportunities to socialize and take classes (photography, computer, quilting, etc).
The Adult Active Living community in an area of Phoenix called Ahwatukee The recently renovated multi-million dollar Recreation center provides the amenities active adults are looking for whether they are visiting for a few weeks, a few months or moving here permanently.
We often see "snowbirds" who move from the Midwest, east coast or Canada and need to make new friends near their new home. Church and other clubs help buyers to settle in and find a sense of community. The community Recreation center can provide a place to make and meet new friends while taking advantage of the many facility features.
As we age we all know we need to stay in shape and today's Active Adults little resemble your parents and grandparents. Many actively 
pursue physical fitness activities. The physical activities could mean going to a gym or nicely appointed facility. It also means hiking and biking.
The Active Adult community in Ahwatukee is located at the base of South Mountain, which is the largest city park area in the United States!! Most people do not know this! This great "Park" has any wonderful hiking trails with 
varying levels of difficulty. You can take a leisurely stroll among the paths of South Mountain and enjoy mountain views, cactus and wild lift.
Many people enjoy taking their dogs walking throughout the South Mountain area. This pet friendly hiking area provides a lovely opportunity to take your dog for a walk on easy trails while the owner and pet get much needed exercise!
As active adults are looking for a home, today many prefer to have a larger yard with room for their dog to roam around. Without
snow, it is great to have a pet door and allow your dog to come and go as needed! Arizona yards are typically low maintenance. This can be a yard with a small patch of grass surrounded by desert landscaping or an entire yard of grass. For those who only visit during the winter months, a low maintenance desert landscape is usually the most desirable option.
If you are considering a winter home in the Phoenix (Ahwatukee) area you probably don't want the maintenance and expense of a swimming pool at your home when there is a GREAT pool at your Active Adult community center. The Multi-Million dollar Recreation center provide the perfect 
place to enjoy swimming indoors or outdoors while you enjoy the mountain views!
