Tooele County Most Affordable Homes in Utah
It's official, Tooele County has the most affordable homes in the Utah.
According to Tim Gillie reporting for the Tooele Transcript Bulletin, two cities in Tooele made the list for the 'top 10 most affordable cities in Utah'.

The article, entitled, Grantsville and Tooele cities make affordability top 10 list.sald this;
Two communities in Tooele County were listed among the Top 10 most affordable cities in Utah in a list prepared by a New York City-based financial technology firm.
Grantsville ranked No. 6 and Tooele City ranked No. 9 on SmartAsset’s study of home affordability in Utah.
SmartAsset took a look nationwide at the five-year average of closing costs, property taxes, the cost of homeowner’s insurance, and the average annual mortgage payment for the average home in every city in the country with a population greater than 5,000.
The firm computed the ration of the costs to the median household income in each city to determine an “affordability index.” (Read Entire Article)

Berna Sloan, president of the Tooele County Association of Realtors, was not surprised that Grantsville and Tooele City showed up on the list of communities with the most affordable homes.
“Tooele County is very affordable,” she said. “Homes out here sell for a lot less than they do around the mountain in Salt Lake County.”
Now ..... to prove our point just a little bit more, lets compare prices of Tooele homes for sale w/ similar homes 'around the mountain', on a cost per square foot basis.
Our test site will be a 2500 sq.ft. home currently listed on at least a half acre built after the year 2000, that allow horses.
- Grantsville UT: Average price $295,000, $76.00 a sq.ft.
- Herriman Utah : $657,000, $135.00
- Riverton Utah: $574,900, $110.00
- Draper Utah: $1,093,000, $182.00
Wow! what a difference. Tooele by far is the place to start shopping.
Now, I know there are variables, and comparing value without features (and other factors) is not an accurate way to evaluate property. But................. The spread is so significant that if you are thinking of buying, or just starting to look, call me. I can help!
