International Migratory Bird Day Walk  on Saturday, May 7 at 8:30 to 11:00 am.    View a large variety of migratory birds along the shoreline.  Beginners welcome, meet at Crab Cove Visitors Center at 1252 McKay Avenue in Alameda.  For more information please call 510-544-3187.

Gold Coast Architecture, Saturday, May 5 at 9 am.  Meet at Franklin Park, 1432 San Antonio Avenue in front of the recreation building. This walk will cover Gold Coast architecture with special note of Julia Morgan’s designed homes and more.  Dennis Evanosky and Eric Kos will lead this walk.   Note:  walk lasts 1 hour 15 minutes

 

The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, May 7 and Tuesday, May 10  mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good!  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables and flowers.  The market is on Webster Street and Haight Avenue and is open rain or shine.

 

Park Street Spring Festival on May 7 and May 8, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Park Street.  This annual event offers street vendors, live music, childrens’ play area and wine and beer.

 

Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks on Saturday, August 1, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco. The trucks include

 

 

Family Nature Fun Hour with Hummingbirds on Saturday, May 7 at 2:00 pm,  Learn more about the smallest buzzing birds than finds out what’s new at the cove.  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

Take Mom to a grand ball at the Young Victoria Ball 1840 on May 7 at 7:00 pm, a costume ball inspired by the 19th century wedding of 20 year old Queen Victoira to Price Albert.  The Ball is presented by Period Events & Entertainment Re-Creation Society(PEERS) at the Alameda Elks Ballroom, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda.  For tickets and more information please call 510-522-1731 or go to www.peersdance.org.
