Real Estate Agent with Pat Hiban Interviews Real Estate Rockstars and Founder of Rebus University

“Start focusing on items you find joy in and do more of those in your own business,” this is very true when it comes to real estate. Some people thrive in daily customer interaction. They get pleasure from talking with customers and making sure that things are going smoothly. However, there are some who find it difficult to find happiness in customer service and going the extra mile. So what would be the next best course of action? That is to focus on things that make you happy and start incorporating it to your work. Someone once told me that if you learn to love your job then you wouldn’t have to work for the rest of your life. Work entails effort. If you love your job, you wouldn’t have to exert effort because what used to require a lot of energy will just come naturally to you.

These are just some things that I’ve learned from one of the most amazing guests I’ve ever had the pleasure of interviewing. Steve Rodgers, yes you got it right, and no, not Captain America, talked about the things that he is very passionate about and his 4 B Main Categories that people should look at. Let’s go first to the thing that he’s very passionate about. This will definitely help out all the budding real estate agents. The first thing that he’s really into is Fear. He would ask himself, “Where am I most fearful?” The moment you identify what area you’re afraid of, you’re already halfway to empowerment, because behind your fear is the door to your empowerment and motivation. After you have identified where you are most fearful, ask yourself this question, “What would I do if I were not afraid?” To budding real estate agents who are afraid to talk in front of a crowd, stand up and make that first step to talking with an audience. Are you afraid to make mistakes when positioning a sale? Good. Acknowledge that fear but step right up to your customer and explain why you think a particular unit is best for him or her. Maybe you’re afraid to fail? Don’t be. Failure is the avenue of learning. You have a lot to be afraid of but always bear in mind that behind the closed doors of fear lie the source of your empowerment. “What would you do if you were not afraid?”

Real Estate is one tough career to be in. There are a lot of things to consider. Mostly though, it is based on sales and customer service but in a nutshell, it is always about establishing those ties, those relationships and making them work. The firs main category of the 4Bs that people should look at is Bonds - the ties that bind people. Real estate is all about relationships. You establish one then you nurture it. You set up shop, establish your credibility, you make yourself memorable to your clients to make sure that if an opportunity comes up, you will be the first person they remember. This is very helpful in the world of real estate. This will fuel your being referable. Once you have established your relationship, you will naturally flow in to the next 4B category, which is Business. You’ve established your Bonds, which will benefit your Business. People will only buy from people they trust and people they like. Once you have a good working relationship with your customers, they will keep going back to you and refer you and your services to people.

These two are the most important things that I wanted to tackle for now. The third and fourth 4B categories are Being and Body respectively. I’m sure you are curious as to what those things mean. That’s good! Curiosity is good! It means you’re interested in becoming better. “Life sometimes is just mundane and boring and monotonous, and it’s part of the process,” Steve told me during the interview. It’s really up to the person to make the best out of what he has. Extraordinary people are those who do ordinary things extraordinarily because they are passionate about what they do. Steve also told me that our personal lives and our businesses are very much related. I couldn’t agree more. If you cannot find a way to make the two of them work together, you will eventually have to give one up. But it shouldn’t be the case. That’s why Steve came up with the 4Bs – Bonds for the personal life and relationships, Business for, well, business. Being and Body, well, you’re going to have to listen to the entire interview to find out. Trust me, you will get a whole lot more than what you bargain for. Just keep this in mind, in a world where people fear the inevitability of change, the only thing that will help you is to know how to transition smoothly.
