Regional Home Sales April 2016

On May 20, 2016, National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that regional existing home sales in the Northeast increased 2.8% in April of 2016 to an annual rate 740,000 homes from March of 2016, and jumped 17.5% from April of 2015. The median price in the Northeast was $263,600 in April of 2016, up 4.1% from April of 2015.

Home sales in the Midwest were higher 12.1% in April of 2016 to an annual rate 1.39 million homes from March of 2016, and rose 12.1% from April of 2015. The median price in the Midwest was $184,200 in April of 2016, higher 7.7% from April of 2015.

Home sales in the South dropped 2.7% in April of 2016 to an annual rate 2.19 million homes from March of 2016, but climbed 4.3% from April of 2015. The median price in the South was $202,200 in April of 2016, increased 6.5% from April of 2015.

Home sales in the West were lower 1.7% in April of 2016 to an annual rate 1,13 million homes from March of 2016, and down 3.4% from April of 2015. The median price in the West was $335,000 in April of 2016, jumped 6.5% from April of 2015, according to Adam DeSanctis of NAR on April 20, 2016.
