CNET.COM User Reviews Are A Great Resource Before Buying Electronics!

I don't know if you are one of those "early adopters" of new technology and gadgets, but I am not! In fact, you could say I am most definitely a late adopter!

I'm too frugal, I guess. I'd rather wait for other consumers to work through the inherent bugs associated to new product launches. I'd also rather wait to see prices drop like a rock on new gadgets mere months after their release to the public!

When I do buy, I only do so after extensive research on any given product category. Sometimes I'll drive myself nuts with all of the research and contemplation, etc.

One of my favorite resources for researching electronics is CNET.COM

I've also learned to rely on the user reviews for the best information. The Editor's reviews are not always accurate and guess what...they're not always an expert on the product they're reviewing and they're only one person with one opinion!

The best research is derived from gaining many opinions from actual end users. I love to rank them by the score they give the product (easily done on the CNET.COM website) and seek out any consistent comments from the users. Consistency simply adds validity to any given gripe or complaint about a product.

If 100% of the people all seem to have the same complaint about something....well, it must be a valid complaint!

Consistency in positive remarks is also appreciated and useful as part of my research.

Buying a PDA/Smartphone anytime soon? You'd better visit this website and read all the user reviews! Same goes for any bluetooth headset or GPS unit you're thinking of buying!

Another resource is Epinions.com. However, I prefer CNET.COM for the broadest focus on the technological gadgets I eventually consider buying.

Excellent resource - I used CNET all the time.  A great resource for camera reviews is StevesDigicams.com - I never buy a camera before checking with Steve!
