Minnesota's Green Path is an energy and green building program for the residential construction industry. Launched by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) in late 2011. Minnesota Green Path provides the builders with a realistic approach to building energy efficient and sustainable homes.
MN Green Path has an exclusive Home Performance Report (HPR). HPR provides buyers with test results from an independent 3rd party that rates the energy efficiency in newly constructed homes. It is clear from study after study that today's home buyers want some level of improved energy efficiency but still do not want the added expense of paying for green features.
How do you measure a home's energy performance factors, indoor air quality and durability? How a home performs is a combination of many factors from construction materials and techniques to equipment choices to R values - thermal resistance generally in walls and ceilings. The RESNET Home Energy Rating System aka HERS coincides with the HPR.
The home for sale in Andover at 1095 166th Ave NW in Country Oaks North has a HERS rating of 45. See example below. There is also a ACH50 score that results in air changes per hour of measured air flow.
The home in Andover that was built by Caliber Homes scores 45 out of 130+. This means that 1095 166th Ave NW in Andover is 55% more energy efficient than the HERS standard code of new construction homes. The ACH50 is nearly perfect at 1.1 on a scale of 0-10 with 10 being the worst.
