Do you work from home full or part-time? Know others that work at home too?

The number of people doing so is growing. Consider the following:

"Results from Gallup’s annual Work and Education poll show that, over the past decade, there has been an increase of about 30%, with 9% of professionals occasionally telecommuting in 1995 and 37% doing so in 2015."

With the number of workers telecommuting full or part-time rising rapidly, many are finding a need to dedicate an office or within their home in order to fulfill their job demands.

And adults aren't the only ones with home office needs. Children need a

designated work space too in order to complete homework assignments. It helps them to focus and stay better organized.

Gene I have worked from a home office as well as a regular office for the last 41 years. One thing I can attest to when it comes to working from a home office is while it provides a lot of flexibility to the work day, it requires you to be very disciplined to not let distractions to get in the way of accomplishing the work that needs to be done.

Hello Gene. I started officing at home several years ago and I'm very happy. Too many distractions at the office. Rich starting officing at home in March and it's been quite an adjustment for him. We'll give it another 6 months or so and see if it's gotten any better.

I remember when I started in mortgages back in the mid-70's. It was the norm for lenders to visit real estate offices ... or agents to come into the bank/S&L. Now I hear lenders say they stopped by an agency to visit and I wonder WHO are you talking to? The biz and how it's conducted certainly has changed ... and your work situation is now typical and the norm.

Good tips, Gene! I work from home when I'm not running all over Charlotte with buyers, visiting sellers and attending meetings in either office! When I'm in the office, I'm not selling real estate so, I prefer to only go in when necessary.

As for those stats - I totally believe it! That is one of the main things that buyers MUST have when home shopping - separate office space. If it doesn't have a door, they have to be able to add one!

My wife was especially good at making sure our boys had a place of their own to "land" for homework, etc. ... and were well stocked with needed homework and art supplies. Now with kids of their own, they still remark at how much better equipped they were then other kids. It made a difference ... so I totally agree with your assessment, Claude Labbe ...
