Confidence Building Comes First And Production Will Follow

Self-promotion is a topic that I love to discuss and encourage.  I don’t think real estate agents do enough self-promotion.  The “top dogs” are always in the limelight.  How do the rest of the real estate agents fit into that blueprint?

In my area, we always see the same photos in the newspaper, mailboxes and online. There are rarely agents who produce a respectable income splattering their photos online or offline.

Conventional real estate offices rarely spend any money on their agents.  The agents don’t make enough money to devote a reasonable percentage for their own promotion, and the result is a flat-line business for those agents.

In a real estate office that pays a generous split, the agent who does not self-promote is “dead in the water.”  No one knows them; no one calls them; they meet people on their own, one person at a time.

Agents should be trained to self-promote by whomever is doing the training and/or mentoring.  I can clearly remember the first time I read a press release about ME in the newspaper and feeling so empowered. It was energizing. It gave me a feeling of being powerful within the group of seasoned agents, and I ran with it.

Everyone needs a dose of energy to get off the blocks.  Training an agent without providing the fuel to give the agent a jump start is ineffective. The first training session should be a lesson in self-promotion and how to market one’s self, especially if the agent has no business.

Every agent who is associated with an office that does business will have something to announce online and offline.  An office is as good as the agents who work there, and all of the agents combined are responsible for the success of that office.

Every agent needs to feel as if he/she has value, and the burden is on the Broker/Owner/ Manager to give guidance to each agent to begin the process of self-promotion and “confidence-building.”

Just a thought for the moment…..
