In Middleburg Virginia annual Christmas events are a tradition. The Middleburg Hunt Rides through town during the parade, the tree lighting is complete with song and snacks, and there is a pageant at Fox Croft for all to enjoy. Be warned the weather can be hot or snowy/ dress appropriately. Many people think they can park anywhere - car pooling is suggested as is buying a parking pass NOW. The parade day offers shopping between the hunt coming through town and also the actual parade. There are artisans at the community center and many lovely local shops that have unique items. In town there are restaurants and coffee shops such as Cupa'Giddyup and Common Grounds. Don't feel like driving and dealing with traffic and parking then book a night at the Goodstone Inn , Salamander Resort or the famous Red Fox.
Here are some thoughts and suggestions:
With over 10,000 visitors it might be a good idea to leave your own dog at home. Yes it's cute to dress them up but if your not in the parade do you really want to subject your dog to large crowds and poop picking up?
Bring water, your camera, gloves, a scarf, $$, watch the weather and dress for it.
When horses go by it is not a good idea to try to pat them, rush up to them to take a picture or step into the road for that shot. This year you can apply for a photography pass. Please remember these animals are just that animals and you do not walk up behind them, reach out to them or casually stroll near them respect there size and beauty.
Have fun and come back next year!( Local resident Marion Chungo & Albie Dec. 2015)
