CNNMoney.com has recognized what we here in the Atlanta area already know: we live in the best place to buy a home!

According to the article, which is part of CNNMoney.com's "100 Best" series, Atlanta in general and Alpharetta in particular are listed as part of the "6 cities where home prices are likely to rise the most -- or fall the least -- in the next 12 months," recognizing our lovely city as being "recession-resistant."

And we made #1!

Alpharetta

Other cities -- and their strong suburban counterparts -- that made the Top 6 are:

  • Boston (Waltham), MA
  • Cincinnati (Mariemont), OH
  • Cleveland (Shaker Heights), OH
  • Detroit (Farmington Hills), MI
  • Houston (Sugarland), TX

A big THANK YOU to our wonderful local newspaper, The Johns Creek Herald who keeps us abreast of great stories like this one -- in whose great weekly publication I read about this great honor for our little city.

Sounds like good news for you guys.  I am only somewhat familiar with Houston area.  They never went up in price much so they can't drop much.

Hi, John! I think steady appreciations are definitely something to look for -- Atlanta sees about 4% appreciation per year so we don't see the huge appreciations and drops that other places around the country do.

Have a great day!
