El Dorado County Senior Programs are some of the BEST in the State!
As one of the Commissioners for District 1, in El Dorado County-I have the opportunity to speak with others about the many programs offered in our fine County. This last week-I sat in on a Presentation given by Raelene Nunn, our District 1 lead person for the Commission on Aging. This Commission advocates for Seniors, present and future. The COA is a voluntary advisory committee to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, and is instrumental in helping to make services accessible to all Seniors.
Some programs at the Senior Centers are also available for those who are 50 years of age and older, not only catered to those over the age of 60. The majority of these County programs, however, are only for those that are of 60 years of age or older. For any questions on these Assistance Programs, for more information and/or for a list of these programs, call 530-621-6369 or Toll Free 800-510-2020.
Did you know you can have Nutritious meals delivered right to your door? Or that you could get FREE legal Services? and the "Senior Times" Newsletter is offered for only $5.00 a year-delivered right to your mailbox. There is also a Family Caregiver Support group/program. We hope the Taxi voucher program/"Dial a Ride" for $3.00 a ride, through EL Dorado Transit-doesn't get cut in the process of balancing our budget-at least for now, that will be a program available until June 30th. Check in end of next month for an update on all programs...
