I Don't Miss The NFL by Bill Roberts

I Don't Miss The NFL

In days gone by my Sundays would be dedicated to watching football from early

morning 'til late at night.  Three full games EVERY Sunday.

I was getting a little tired of the NFL.  The owners are mostly a bunch of jerks.  The

teams belong to the owners, not the community where they might be currently

domiciled.

The San Diego Charges are now the L A Chargers. I hope Alex and Dean Spanos are

happy.  San Diegans could care less.

I am grateful for the idiots of the NFL that decided to dis-respect our flag and

National Anthem.  Now I don't waste my Sundays watching their antics.

And I have re-discovered college football..  It is GREAT.

My wife likes it too (not to watch, but because it is on Saturday, not Sunday).

So Goodell, keep worrying about the sensitivities of your over-paid, double-digit IQ

players. You certainly know which side of the bread your butter is on.

I'll keep watching the SEC on Saturday.

I'm at the office working while my Saints are playing. Just can't seem to get into the groove this season. But you are right, college football is a blast!

Bill I have stopped watching all the games except the Patriots, and might stop watching them also if things don't change.  College football is a lot more exciting.

Bill,

We have cut cable out of our lives.  What is interesting is that foreign athletes pay respect to our flag, as those who compete overseas also respect other nations flags.  I don't understand it, regardless of what we think is wrong with our country, we still owe it respect especially to those Americans who serve the Armed Forces and have laid their lives for our freedom...A

I don't watch either college or pros but I do believe in freedom of speech that does not process hate.

Bill- I have always preferred college football and spend yesterday watching many games. This was capped off by seeing my Astros win! That said, I still watch the NFL.

Hi Alexandra, No cable? No satellite too?

Respect is something we learn at an early age. Obviously, these dolts missed those lessons.

OK Kathy Streib I realize some are still watching as the ratings are only down about 20%. But I no longer have time for them. I actually think it is time for a whole new league where the owners are the people of the community where the team "lives" like the the way the Packers are structured (the ONLY TEAM OWNED BY THE LOCAL PEOPLE).

Good morning, Bill... I couldn't have said it better myself! Thank you! Now that being said, can't say I have any inclination towards college football although I do keep an eye on the results of North Carolina games. The NFL and their millionaire cry babies need to get a grip if you ask me.

Hi Nina Hollander Nice to see you again. I really like college football. The teams WANT to win, and they try things that the pros never would. It is a lot more fun.

Although I'm with you in sentiment to some degree, I can't say I don't miss good football itself, Bill Roberts.  I love the game ... just not in its present form.  It's the quality of the product that keeps me from watching as I once did ...

Well Gene Mundt, IL/WI Mortgage Originator - FHA/VA/Conv/Jumbo/Portfolio/Refi I don't think George Hallas would have approved, either.

I've enjoyed watching the SEC this year.

Hey Bill, popping by to say hi. Just say no to a crazy sport that causes brain injuries. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Well Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I like football. It seems that the high tech helmets are the cause of the injuries. So much for progress. The old-time leather helmets were actually safer. Who would've thought?

Really? That is so interesting.

I heard a commentary from Scott Simon one year about the Superbowl - and brain injuries. It was quite profound. I also like football, but not the way it affects some of the players.
