Windows Vista is a Funny Thing

First off I'd like to thank Marchel Peterson for inviting me to the Windows Vista & Office 2007 group here at Active Rain. By joining the group I'm looking forward to learning more about Vista and sharing thoughts (Vista can be so frustrating at times).  I don't really know what to think about Windows Vista other than it's a funny thing. I recently changed my cell service and switched to a Palm Treo. I was anxious to get the Palm up and running and have all of my info easily accessable to my laptop and phone. As a full time Realtor it just makes life a whole lot easier. I downloaded the software onto the laptop, entered my info and then hit the hot sync... didn't sync. I tried to trouble shoot myself and had no luck so I thought I'd call my cell service provider and see if they could help.

I do appreciate the fact that my provider has Live Chat for tech support, it makes things much easier and faster. Anyway, after half an hour or 45 minutes of chatting they couldn't help me either and provided me with a link to Palm. Upon opening the link, Ta-Dah, if you have Vista you need to do an additional download. I hit the download, it didn't take very long and Bingo... the hot sync works.

I guess the moral of the story is if you have Vista and you're installing anything new it would be prudent to do a little extra research for Vista compatability and/or the necessity of additional downloads, doing so would have saved me a good hour give or take and a lot of frustration.

Bob - I hope you enjoy the Vista, I heard a lot of mixed reviews and just waiting out the storm so to speak.  Right now my PC has the good ole xp still and my lap top is a Mac.

BOB, My husband put everything on my new computer for me.  For all my old programs he had to go and find a fix for Vista.  Through the process we started thinking maybe we should go back to XP but we decided to just plow on through the set up.  I am so glad we did.  I have been back on XP for a week because of a problem with my computer screen (nothing Vista related) and I have to say I REALLY did miss Vista.  I am so glad to have my Vista computer back up and running.

I think Vista will be alright but it is human nature to resist change and that in itself could be a lot of the problems.

I've left Vista and moved on to Windows 7. Greatest move i ever made. Vista just frustrated me way too much.

Robert, Was there any problems moveing to Windows 7? I'm contemplating but just wasn't sure about it because I have had so many problems with anything new that I try but I REALLY don't like Vista.
