Have you ever experienced being stuck in the snow...hearing your wheels spinning fruitlessly while your car becomes a real slave to the elements...getting nowhere fast...???

Is there such a thing as a ‘NATIONAL’ SIN...???

Are you aware of the sin of DETRACTION...

Detraction is not a common word today, but the thing it signifies is all too common. Indeed, known by another name—gossip—it may be one of the most common sins throughout all of human history.

As Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J., writes in his Modern Catholic Dictionary, detraction is "Revealing something about another that is true but harmful to that person's reputation."

SO...even if I am telling the truth when disclosing the faults of another, by this action I may be committing a sin, and...if this becomes a pattern of behavior in my life...I can be in serious trouble...!!!

The wheels of my moral compass begin to lose traction and my progress is abruptly halted... 

That is where SELF CONTROL comes in...those of us old enough to remember when our report cards contained a mark for self control may have a head start on correcting this moral deviation...!!!
