CPR works to manually maintain circulation by compressing the chest and forcing air into the lungs. This can help keep someone alive when the heart stops pumping for any reason such as disease, drugs, or trauma.

The Class Will Take Place Close to Any Johns Creek Home at City Hall

This class will take place on Saturday, January 20th at Johns Creek City Hall, Temporary City Hall located at 10700 Abbotts Bridge Road, Suite 190. There will be two sessions, one at 8 a.m. and one at 11 a.m. The 11 a.m. class is full, but there are still a few spots available for the 8 a.m. class. Johns Creek residents aged 12 years or older can participate and need to sign up for a spot at the city’s website.

More and more establishments are providing AED’s to help save lives. This small device delivers an electric shock to the heart to restore the heart rhythm to normal. It can be a very useful tool in increasing the chances for survival. The final part of the class focuses on opioid awareness and goes over the dangers of being addicted to opioids, how to give Naloxone (Narcan) which can save someone who has overdosed, and Georgia’s 911 Medical Amnesty Law. All who finish the class will be given a certificate of participation and be better prepared to help during a medical emergency.
