You say Tomato...I Say Tomahto...

You Say Tomato... I Say Tomahto...

We can play nice in the sandbox with others that don't quite do things the way that we do.  Who's to say which way is right when both ways are working.

I do not want to work 24/7... my family does not want me too... my clients do not want me to... so what makes another agent in a different office and in fact, in a different state,  think they have the right to tell me that I need to?

Some business plans are fee for service plans, some are traditional commisison plans... why should one side knock the other.. there's plenty of homes and clients for both.. Giving the public choices is a good thing in my book.

Some agents need to have another job in addition to real estate.  Those agents that do not find it necessary to to supplement their real estate income sometimes knock those that need to do so,  even though obviously their clients are OK with it or they wouldn't hire them.

We need to live above some of this...

There is so much wasted energy in these battles that could be better spent working on issues that benefit us all.

Yes! There are many different ways to run our lives and our businesses, and the only thing that should matter is whether our way works for us.

Exactly right. We each have our own way of doing things and have our own systems. Those systems work for us, or at least we think they do. If they truly work, who's to argue? Thank you for sharing.

An Idabel OK Broker ~ Judi K Barrett - When I got started in the business, I felt the pressure of keeping up with the Jones' (agents always at the top of the charts). It didn't take long to figure out, I didn't like those people - not because of jealousy, I just felt ethically, I couldn't do what many were doing.

On the day I made up my mind to not pay attention to what others were saying and doing and just compete against myself, my world changed for the better. Kat Palmiotti is right, "the only thing that should matter is whether our way works for us."

Congratulations on your feature!

      Excellent, Judi.

Nobody wants to be forced into a PC Orwellian Group Think culture, and that includes the real estate industry.   Stop making "rules" that other real estate agents must live by.

Dear Judi,

Being professional is what I care about. Which company or RE model you follow is secondary, so long as you can make our transaction work.

Yes - wouldn't life be nice if we'd just go about our business and let others go about theirs.

It's not just in real estate. I don't like to think of the millions of people who have been killed over the years in the name of religion - because "My God is better than yours."

Good morning An Idabel OK Broker ~ Judi K Barrett, I was thinking the same earlier this morning, then, I read your post. I don't know why we think our way is the best and the only way to success.  Well deserved feature!

I always try to think “to each his own”. If we all did the same thing the same way it would be a very boring world. A client would have even a harder time choosing an agent because there would be no distinction between any of us.

Bravo Judi. I read a couple of posts this morning and was thinking the same thing. Glad I found your wonderful feature.  I get tired of hearing how someones way is the best, or only way. Not so. D

Hi Judi

I'm glad  you wrote this and that it was featured. Who wants everyone to be the same, even in the way we practice real estate, as long as it's done ethically, morally, professionally, and legally?

Waaahhh, I don't get the video. It won't display for me. Maybe I should not be using Safari on Active Rain. I'll have to try this in Firefox.

I also agree. There are many ways to sell real estate. As long as agents answer their phone and get their end of the job done, I have no complaints. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for anybody else.

Everyone has their own opinions as to what works for them, but they should NOT be thrust on others. We've got the same goal (a successful closing) so working toward this is most important!
