Remodeling Market Report 1st Quarter 2018

On April 19, 2018, the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI) declined three points to 57 points in the 1st quarter of 2018, from 4th quarter of 2017.

The RMI’s current market conditions index fell two points to 58 points, major additions and alterations decreased four points to 56 points, component measuring demand for smaller remodeling projects higher one point to 60 points, and home maintenance and repair component dropped four points to 57 points in the 1st quarter of 2018, from 4th quarter of 2017.

NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz, stated “This quarter’s dip may be related to unusually cold weather in many parts of the country, but the forecast is for the remodeling market to grow in 2018.”
