For those of you who have been following my journey, I've been learning to monetize my blog, so that I can work at home more and earn passive income. This enables me to just work part time on other things...i.e. active income.
It has indeed been a journey, but it's been super fufilling as I've been learning how to do many things and I keep getting better and better. And, I feel like I'm building something that is special...and sustainable...and something that is less dependent on seasonality (yes, many businesses are seasonal and mine would decline each winter...from Thanksgiving...until the snow melted...so end of March).
And, I believe I have something that is less dependent on the economy...or where I live...and I have an income that will continue to earn income even when I'm away...or when I eventually retire. It's really cool.
BTW, while it took me a while to get here, the last 3 months, believe it or not, I have been earning around $8,000 per month on my blog. I still can't believe it. Hopefully, it will continue to grow.
But, one of the biggest benefits of what I'm doing now is that I can work at home (most of the time). I have so much more flexibility to do what I want to do and when I want to do it. If it's super cold outside, I don't have to go out driving in the bitter weather. Of if it's hot out (like today), I can just hop into the pool downstairs. If I want to have lunch with a friend, I can.
If I were a stay at home mom, or mom that works part-time, this would be so perfect, too. I know for moms, it's hard to juggle everything and many want to stay at home, but they also have this challenge...they either want to or need to make some extra money. But, finding a way to do that and maintain flexible hours is challenging. You know, as a mom, your schedule is never the same every day. And, it's challenging to hold a "regular" job and have flexible hours.
If you or someone you know is in this situation (because yes, sometimes it just feels like there's no easy solution to this dilemma), check out my friend Carly's article on Stay at Home Mom jobs.
Carly is a mom. She blogs, too. And, she started her blog a month after she got pregnant. She was determined to make things work for her so that she could stay at home with her newborn, but also make extra money...on her terms. By the way, Carly now just had a 2nd child. She's on "maternity leave" now as it just happened a few weeks ago.
And, while she's on maternity leave, she is earning a great income - and passively. She does spend a little bit of time on her blog each week...but mainly because she loves it, not because she needs to do it.
You see Carly has created an awesome blog community (in addition to her blog) and she has created a great network of friends...fellow bloggers...who she learns from and shares info with them. It's truly spectacular.
Anyway, getting back to Carly's article, she outlines MANY ways to earn money as a Stay at Home Mom. Blogging is just one way, and she shares many others. She gets it as she has been a stay at home mom. And, you know what, you don't need to be a stay at home mom...or even a mom...or even a woman to do these jobs.
The point is that the hours are flexible, and you set how much time and when you spend on them. So, if you have a full time job (or part-time job) and you want to earn some extra income (even just for a few months during the slow times), these should come in handy. I wish I had known about some of these before because I might have done one or two of them during the winter slow times.
I hope you find this info helpful. And, tell Carly I say hi.
