Located approximately 40 miles west of San Antonio the city of

Hondo TX is known for it's slogan

"This is Gods Country Don't Drive Through It Like Hell"

Community was settled by German and Polish immigrants, known for it's ranching and farming.

Hondo Army Air Field was established in 1942 as a training facility training thousands of pilots. It was one of the biggest air fields in the world at one time and closed in 1946.

Sign was revised several years ago to correct the word "thru", and added Please.

Hondo Texas was established in 1881 on the Southern Pacific Railroad and incorporated May 14th, 1942.
