Hi All -
This is my first blog post! I have joined this community as I am just on my journey to get to learn more about real estate in general and how I can start getting into real estate investing. Here are a few things that I hope to learn here:
1. Downpayment Information
I have always heard that it is best to have a large downpayment (~20%) when buying a home, but I do want to learn whether or not this is actually a hard and fast rule, or if there is some flexibility here. I would like to purchase once I pay down my student loans some - within the next 2-3 years, so want to get a head start in thinking on this.
2. Perspectives on Condos vs. "Regular" Homes
I live in the DC metro area, and I'm torn between looking into buying a condo or buying a standalone home (or something in-between, like a townhome). I'm really interested in learning from others on whether one is trully better than the other. I'm leaning more towards a condo as I'm single and live in an apartment currently, but would love to hear from others on this.
3. Learning More About Real Estate Investing
Real Estate investing is something that has always intrigued me. I would love to better understand how to go about investing in real estate in the future - perhaps somewhere outside of my area, which has a high cost of living.
