So after looking and not finding a home for a long time I now had an agent in the area. I did my best to rely upon her but I still monitored the MLS in the area and checked Realtor.com daily. Long story short, I found my own home, not once but twice. The first we went into contract and after the inspections, the sellers, who lived mostly in NYC, were not willing to address structural issues. I walked. The second house, which is now my home, came on the market and I called before my agent saw it. I was going abroad two days later, but I knew if I didn't drive to Massachusetts the next day it would be gone before I left. So I made the trip offered a little above asking and bought the home.
The sellers wouldn't wait on me to return from my trip to do the inspections, and so my agent went for me. There were a couple of things that needed attention but I wasn't eager to get into things while on holiday. I was really torn up and then at dinner in Albania, clarity. While trying to digest the toughest meat I have ever eaten, it occurred to me how lucky I was. The annual salary for a professional in this country is 6K. The meat was tough and I had the chance to buy a home in a great location with the land I wanted with a couple of things to address. I emailed my agent and waived opportunity to ask for redress.
I enjoyed the rest of my trip and came home two and a half weeks before I closed on my very old, new home. To be continued................
