Active Rain Challenge - Offering Positivity and Support

What are we doing to help in our community?   Thanks for asking Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 - we both appreciate this challenge.

There is an old saying that comes to mind, when the going gets tough the tough get going (and I'm one tough old broad) meaning that when times are hard we buckle down and work harder to meet the challenge.  And, in times like these it's so much more important to meet this challenge head one so we can all get through.

Our office started with a Lemonade Bingo challenge for all the agents who wished to participate.  The squares came from a list that Gary Scott came up with.  I embraced the challenge and not only did most of the squares but have been working through the list too.

I have been dual career since my life and business partner passed away in 2016.  In January I was injured at my job and have not been able to return to work yet.  Instead of wallowing at home I have been using the time to rebuild my business and find ways to stay positive.

  • Making phone calls, text messages and social media shout outs to old friends and past clients that I haven't touched in a while.
  • Volunteering in the community, helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
  • Walking my neighborhood to regain strength but also to meet my neighbors.  I've lived here 4 years but never really spent time here except to sleep.  You could also take a bag and pick up trash while you walk.
  • Making masks for my sons and their coworkers who work the front line at Giant, BWI, Johns Hopkins non clinical departments and friends.  I have had to get creative though because there is no 3/8" elastic to be had anywhere.  This has lead to a little cottage industry now that Marylanders are required to wear masks when entering public buildings and businesses.
  • Learn a new skill, take a class online or take a continuing education credit online..
  • Posting positive quotes and funny stories on social media.
  • Sending letters updating people about market conditions and recent sales to my farm areas.
  • Stopped reading and watching the news that spreads misinformation and panic mongering.

What positive things have you done during these tough times?

Hi June- it looks like you're doing a lot to be productive while we're all staying at home. BTW- I bought 2 masks from a lady here and she used a thin cord because she didn't have elastic and they work just fine!!!!  She looked everywhere for it but you're right, elastic is hard to find.

I love your positive attitude, June Piper-Brandon.

You would be excused if your attitude was self-pitying instead of positive and helpful. I am so impressed by your pluckiness.
