Many 4th of July fireworks celebrations around Union County have been canceled this year due to COVID-19 concerns. Governor Murphy indefinitely delayed reopening any indoor dining at New Jersey restaurants. However, outdoor dining and takeout remain open. Downtown Westfield Events for July 4th 2020 Weekend

What's Happening on Quimby Street?

Click here for an instant "No Strings Attached" valuation of your home.No cars on Quimby Street again this weekend. Pedestrians only from Friday night to Sunday night. Even though Governor Murphy put the kibosh on indoor dining anytime soon, most restaurants still allow takeout, curbside pickup, and outdoor dining. They strongly encourage social distancing. Retail establishments welcome patrons. However, the governor only allows a 50% capacity. You also must wear a mask while inside. Many spas, barber shops, and salons in the downtown area also reopened with some restrictions in place. If you feel unwell, please stay home.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream

The weatherman says to expect temperatures to reach the mid-80s to low-90s this weekend. Sounds like the perfect time for ice cream to me. Visit your favorite ice cream shops in the downtown area. Upload a photo and the reason why that establishment hits the high notes in your book on Downtown Westfield's Instagram and/or Facebook pages. Make sure you tag it with #WestfieldAllAmericanIceCreamTour. All posts using that hashtag automatically get entered into a drawing for gift cards to Westfield ice cream parlors. This contest ends Sunday evening.

Arcade Now Open

Westfield museums and libraries reopened. And so did arcades. Yes. Yestercades is now open for business again. Play skee ball, pinball, Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong Jr., and tons of other arcade games you loved in your youth. Introduce them to your kids for a day of fun family play.

Get outside. Enjoy some fresh air. Keep a nice six foot social distance between yourself and others. Wear a mask when inside a shop, arcade, restaurant or anywhere else you cannot maintain a safe social distance to protect yourself and others. Happy 4th, everyone.
