By
Home Inspector with Complete Home Inspections, Inc. TN Lic#050

Yup! You heard me right... The price of gasoline is going down. According to the latest news release on NPR, the price of gasoline declined this week a whopping 0.0033 cents per gallon Nationwide! How exciting! The savings at the gas pump and a buck will almost buy you a double cheese burger at McDonalds or Wendy's. Who says that the media just reports doom-and-gloom and disasters. This is something that we all need to click our heels over... Yeah Right! Now if they would say something positive about the housing market... "Yesterday it was reported that a house sold in the devastated housing market bringing a much needed relief to the housing slump in the....

I believe they will drop the prices if they think they don't have us over a barrel anymore (pun intended). We wouldn't even have to really be drilling. Just announce it on the news like everything else that we've found enough oil to do away with the middle east oil and all of a sudden they will drop prices.

It's not like the news is honest broadcasting anyway. Look at how they manipulate the truth on every other story.

Cheri, I do agree that OPEC does have us over a barrel. I beleive that alternative fuel sources is the way of the future.

33 cents? I haven't seen that drop here in GR. That would improve things for quite a bit of people.

I sure didn't hear any complaints from y'all when the media was all over the double digit appreciation craze the past 5 years!  Did you all really think these crazy price hikes were sustainable?  Without the liar loans, neg am, IO, and option ARMs oh what will we do now?!?!?!  And no more living off my house ATM?  What is this world coming to?!?!?!

So does anyone out there have an IRA, savings plan, etc or are you all counting on your home's equity at retirement?

MaryLou...Good point... I cannot speak for others, but yes, I live in a paid for house, I do have emergency funds set up, and I am saving for retirement... Too bad we live in such an instant gratification society...

I find this almost funny when I think that European gas prices are around $11 a gallon right now.

It needs to go down much more to help people. Pretty soon people will be back to riding horses again.

Lex... Good post but I feel that spending money on mass transportation through government grants opens the door for more waste as most of these programs are not all that effective. We need to develop alternative fuel sources...

Robert... I don't know about riding horses but bikes, scooters, and other inexpensive forms of transportation will definitely be on the horizon...

Simon... Yes we are very fortunate to have the price of gasoline very reasonable as compared to the rest of the world...

Nicholas... As a former president used to say, "I feel your pain...". Yes I know, I shudder when I fill my SUV which I cannot give away...

In the grand scheme of things it really is not so bad for us in real estate, while I fully recognize that it is bad for a lot of people. But let's say your SUV takes 25 gallons. Well a year ago it was costing you $75 to fill it - today $100. And even if like Nick you are filling it twice a week - that's an incease of $1,300 a year. Less what the tax man will contribute towards your business expenses, for most of us this is less than half of one deal.

Simon... For the most part, I do agree, that gas is a small part of our expenses. However, the price of fuel is affecting our food and other supplies... For many Americans, the high cost of fuel is already putting a crunch in their already cramped lifestyles...

Michael - I agree with that. But you see this is what happens when the nation allows the global warming lunatics to take over the asylum and then use food to make fuel. Old Chinese proverb - "He who burns his food will go hungry"

Simon... I agree, The use of corn and soy to make ethanol was one of the stupidest things that Congress came up with... I believe that eventually it will come around and bite us in the butt big time...
