Good morning!!
I woke this morning thinking about joy…
Joy, is by definition, a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. I had always felt it meant something a bit different, honestly…
To me, joy always meant something beyond happiness or pleasure…
A feeling of inner peace. A calm. A feeling that no whatever life throws at you, you will move forward with a smile on your face and an attitude that cannot be shaken…
We have all met joyous people. Those people that seem to ooze goodwill from their heart and soul…
People that are strong. Hopeful. They have an aura about them…
Often times these joyous people have an inner faith. A spirituality. A belief in a higher power…
A belief that things happen for a reason…
That no matter what happens, big or small, it was meant to happen…
Whether it be a stubbed toe. A speeding ticket. A fight with a loved one. Or even something much bigger…
I believe in that. I believe things do happen for a reason…
Good or bad, the occurrences in my life are part of some plan. A predetermined path that I am on…
That I am here for a reason. A higher purpose…
And that I have a mission, even if I haven’t yet discovered what that mission is…
So here I lay, early in the morning. 3:27 am…
I feel an excitement. A belief that there is a reason for things, and that God put me here, where I am, right here and now, for a that reason…
A purpose…
Although not sure of that reason at the moment, I have realized what brings me the joy we so often seek…
I am most joyous when I am connecting to others...
Lifting others spirits if they are down…
Celebrating with them if they are happy…
Being a shoulder to cry on…
Giving a high five. A firm handshake. A warm hug...
A look directly in the eye…
Having a smile that lights up the room. An air of confidence. An attitude that cannot be shaken…
For I believe again, that I do have a higher purpose. That things do happen for a reason…
I believe that I am joyous…
And my purpose, maybe even my gift, is to share that joy with others…
So today I move forward with excitement. I will reach out to others in a spirit of goodwill…
I will be a lighthouse in the storm. A beacon of hope and optimism…
For today will be a great day...
And my smile will light up the room…
