YOU ARE a LEADER!

I can hear some folks out there buzzing: "Leadership is not for me. I'm independent and don't need anyone else . . . or . . . I'm just tickled pink being the masterful follower that I aspire to be . . . Why would I want to take on all of the additional onerous responsibilities of becoming a LEADER?

NEWS FLASH!

You already ARE a leader.

Knowing this and believing it are essential for high achievement.

We know that the most successful people reach their lofty notoriety through personal adaptation of MODELS (Learning from those have gone before them), SYSTEMS (Continually seeking better ways to optimize time, energy, and money) . . . and a resolute commitment to work THROUGH PEOPLE . . . all the while reaching for MASTERY with continuous LEARNING.

Last week, I was invited to participate in the "Team Leader Masterminds" here in Middle Tennessee. The primary topic was LEADERSHIP, and our OP Bill Haggard brought a veritable treasure chest of knowledge and experience to this room full of leaders.

This was @ 12 hours of continuous AHAs as we together explored the power and subtlety of leadership. What it ultimately boiled down to was:

LOVE!

Call me crazy, but the "end game" came right down to love and respect for everyone around you. The truly great leaders are the ones who love and respect those folks in their worlds that they know when to hug, when to discipline, when to teach, mentor . . . when to be strong . . . when to be tender . . .

The great leaders are those folks who EMBRACE life and everyone in their path.

If you are associated with Keller Williams Realty, you know that the "Official Leader" in your office is the Team Leader (TL). You may also have a Broker, and MCA (Market Center Administrator), a DIFO (Director of first impressions), an assistant TL and/or MCA, and a Productivity Coach. This is the LEADERSHIP TEAM of the Market Center. The TL is the Captain . . . The slightly less descriptive term for this group of people is "Staff"

I like "LEADERSHIP TEAM" better. Each person "plays" a position and serves a viable purpose in the support of our clients (The REALTOR associates in our office).

There's another TEAM in the office - The Agent (Associate) Leadership Council (ALC). This is @ an 8-15 person team comprised of the top 20% producers in the market center. The ALC is the "Advisory Board" for the TL . . . and the protectors of the Market Center's Growth. Productivity, Profitability, and Culture. To have a highly effective ALC, the TL's gotta love on each of the members as "Captain" of the team.

The TL, Leadership Team, & ALC in turn then love appropriately on the 3rd team - The Associates who are out there working with Buyers and Sellers . . . Each of these associates is developing his/her OWN TEAM - Some of these are "formal Teams" comprised of assistants and Buyer and Listing Specialists, while others have the appearance of "flying solo" but are really building a team of vendor support. The Associates' TEAMS are serving THEIR clients - The Buyers and Sellers in the Marketplace.

The Buyers and Sellers have teams of their own . . .

And don't forget that we are all also "on" other teams that may even be more significant - Family, Worship, Community.

The point is that the Fuel for success is a rich mix of models, systems and PEOPLE ... and a strong belief in yourself as a LEADER.

Regardless of your position in the world, you are on several teams, and you are a LEADER. The best thing you can do for yourself and others around you is to develop your own personal LEADERSHIP skills through reading, mentorship, and education.

and don't forget to share the LOVE . . .
