On May 24, 2022, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau reported nationwide new single family home sales declined 16.6% to an annual rate of 591,000 homes in April of 2022 from 709,000 homes in March of 2022, and fell 26.9% from in April of 2021 an annual rate of 809,000 homes.
The median new home sold value was $450,600, while the average sales price was $570,300 in April of 2022. There were estimated 444,000 new houses for sale, and 9.0 months supplies of available inventory at the end of April of 2022.
